Curriculum
The curriculum at Chedzoy Preschool is comprehensive and follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) for 0 – 5 year olds. This is the same Curriculum that is offered at Primary School in your child's Reception Year, providing continuity and enabling your child to reach their full potential at both settings.Full details of the EYFS and examples of the activities/experiences are available at Preschool. We have set out below the areas involved and we would be pleased to enlarge on this at your visit.
Personal, Social and Emotional
This area concentrates on confidence and self-esteem and includes sharing, being part of small and large group activities, building friendships.
Communication, Language and Literacy
This area develops and expands awareness of language, vocabulary and print.
Activities promote language for communication and thinking, linking sounds/letters and writing. Discussion between peers and adults enhances this area.
Problem solving , Reasoning and Numeracy
Building upon interest in numbers, number recognition, counting. Recognition and matching/naming of shapes. Problem solving, measuring and volume.
Knowledge and Understanding of the World
A range of experiences including environment, lCT, early science, seasons, natural and man-made world, cultures and diversity.
Physical Development
Our spacious premises enable us to offer a wide range of activities to develop coordination and gross motor skills. Fine motor skills are developed through a range of interesting and fun activities.
Creative Development
Opportunities to experience music and movement, exploration of different media and materials, role play.
Outside activities are available as often as possible throughout the year including free play, walks, sports activities and activities to promote knowledge and understanding of the world.
